About The Position

MWDN is seeking a Low-Level Rust Developer for a Big Data infrastructure project in Israel. The client is an Israel-based company building next-generation infrastructure for Big Data systems, backed by top investors and led by experienced founders. They are expanding their core R&D team and looking for engineers to solve complex technical challenges. This role is for A-level senior engineers who have 5+ years of relevant experience in systems programming, can own complex performance-critical components end-to-end, are comfortable navigating hardware/software boundaries, memory management, I/O tuning, and concurrency, thrive in high-autonomy environments with high standards, and can collaborate with top engineers to deliver impact without hand-holding.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in systems programming
  • Expertise in Rust
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and networking fundamentals
  • Experience in low-level system architecture
  • Experience with multi-threading, memory layout optimization, or custom allocators
  • Proven ability to take full ownership of complex challenges from inception to delivery, with strong attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to dive into unfamiliar codebases and optimize them quickly
  • Comfortable working with minimal abstraction layers in high-performance environments
  • Fluent (C1) spoken English

  • Proven track record in Systems programming in Rust
  • Proven track record in Low-level performance optimization
  • Proven track record in Building high-performance infrastructure and distributed systems

Responsibilities

  • Own complex performance-critical components end-to-end
  • Navigate hardware/software boundaries, memory management, I/O tuning, and concurrency
  • Collaborate with top engineers and deliver impact without hand-holding
  • Accelerate distributed systems like Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Ray
  • Build native Rust-based execution engines
  • Perform deep performance tuning (e.g., SIMD, cache locality, zero-copy IO)
