About The Position

Miller-Keystone Blood Center (MKBC) is seeking a Lot Release Staff member to join their team in Bethlehem, PA. This role is crucial in supporting MKBC's mission of saving lives by ensuring the timely review and release of blood products. The position involves reviewing donor histories and related reports to verify eligibility and suitability, investigating duplicate donors, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining accurate documentation. MKBC is a fast-paced, not-for-profit organization that provides blood products to hospitals in PA and NJ.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in healthcare, medical blood bank, or data entry experience
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions independently and seek guidance when appropriate.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively and professionally with donors, coworkers, and other stakeholders.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and availability to adjust work schedules based on Blood Center operational needs.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and maintains accurate, complete, and timely documentation.
  • Background checks and drug screenings are required.
  • Successful completion of background checks and drug screenings is contingent upon an offer of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews donor history questionnaires and related reports for completeness and accuracy to determine donor eligibility and suitability before and after donation.
  • Contacts donors to clarify missing or conflicting information and resolves questionnaire discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Completes daily lot release activities and communicates completion status and outstanding units to the laboratory.
  • Identifies, investigates, and resolves duplicate donor records; completes required record updates, attributes, and documentation.
  • Generates CQIs as needed and reviews RERV, Splenectomy, and other applicable reports to identify issues requiring follow-up.
  • Completes component retrievals, tracks DINs during Sitemaster downtime, enters mDHQs into BBCS, and assists with 16-year-old consent and donor reviews.
  • Maintains accurate, traceable records and performs all responsibilities in accordance with SOPs, cGMP, organizational policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
