Lum’s Auto Center, Inc. is seeking a motivated Lot Porter/Detailer to join our team. We pride ourselves on creating an environment that is very family-friendly. Requirements

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Must be 17 years of age or older
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen (we do not test for THC)

Responsibilities

  • Compares serial numbers of incoming cars against invoice.
  • Inspects vehicles to detect damage and to verify the presence of accessories listed on the invoice.
  • Records the description of damages and lists missing items on the delivery receipt.
  • Parks new vehicles in assigned areas.
  • Catalogs and stores keys.
  • Assigns stock control numbers to cars.
  • Moves sold vehicles to maximize use of space and keep the lot in order.
  • Delivers sold vehicles to the new-vehicle preparation department.
  • Services vehicles in storage to protect tires, battery and finish against deterioration.
  • Maintains new- and used-vehicle inventory appearance and performance by cleaning interior and exterior of vehicles, replenishing all vehicle fluids as needed.
  • Places buyer guides and stock tags in vehicles.
  • Keeps new- and used-vehicle lots neat and orderly, moving cars as directed by the general manager and in accordance with dealership display standards.
  • Sweeps, shovels or vacuums loose debris or salvageable scrap into containers and removes containers from work areas.
  • Inspects parts, equipment, or vehicles for cleanliness, damage, and compliance with standards or regulations.
  • Drives vehicles to and from service lane, service stalls, and parking lot as needed.
  • Makes key tags for vehicles.
  • Ensures proper stickers are displayed in the vehicle's window.
  • Removes all window stickers on sold vehicles.
  • Washes vehicle exterior, cleans interior and exterior windows and wipes down doorjambs.
  • Applies wax to auto body, and wipes or buffs surface.
  • Vacuums interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris.
  • Cleans upholstery, rugs and other surfaces, using appropriate cleaning agents, applicators and cleaning devices.
  • Applies revitalizers and preservation agents to interior vinyl or leather surfaces and treats fabrics with spot- and stain-resistant chemicals.
  • Cleans engine and engine compartment with steam-cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents.
  • Applies special-purpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which normal cleaning procedures do not remove, utilizing experience and judgment and following product manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Inspects vehicles for noticeable defects, such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery and poor mechanical operation.
  • Notes on repair order Inspects vehicle for aftermarket equipment for damage
  • Restores appearance of engine area, rugs and upholstery and painted surfaces.
  • Uses touch-up paint, dyes and other appropriate materials.
  • Uses proper eye, hand and body protection when using products that require protection.
  • Applies dressing on tires and tire wells.
  • Replaces missing or defective small parts.
  • Perform inventory for detail supplies and request form when needed.
  • Apply exterior paint protection sealant, fabric/leather protection, undercoating on vehicles when product is sold
  • Keeps work area neat and clean.
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
  • All other duties as assigned.
