The Lot Driver operates motor vehicles on and off the premises for transport, pickup and delivery in support of auction activities and does Lot Assistant duties. Safely move, stage, and park vehicles in the correct lot area to support the flow of vehicles for the car auction. Drive vehicles to and from designated areas, as well as pick up and deliver vehicles while observing auction driving rules, rules of the road and demonstrating courteous and defensive driving principles. Drive assigned vehicles through auction lanes on sale day. Verify VIN of cars being picked up and or delivered against transportation requests. Line up and park vehicles in the correct order as directed by the Lot Manager, Team Leader or designated supervisor. If necessary, inflate tires and jump-start vehicles using a battery box and air tank. Fill the gas tank when the vehicle is out of gas. Assist customers such as dealers, account reps, and co-workers as needed. Perform walk-around each vehicle prior to moving vehicle and note damage. Works closely with other members of the ADESA operations team to ensure that all ADESA wholesale vehicles are located in the proper areas of the lot and moved as needed. Move vehicles between operational staging areas as needed. Uses electronic devices and Auction tracking tools (AuctionTrac, Cargo, AMS) to track vehicles and update vehicle locations. Locate missing vehicles and ensure that all vehicles registered for the weekly sale are located, are moving through the various auction processes, and are parked in their appropriate area in preparation for sale day. Identify vehicles that have been sold, locate and mark them, and move them to various staging areas of the lot. Monitor external dealers and other customers who are on site previewing vehicles to be sure that proper Vehicle Preview procedures are followed. Interact with external customers in a professional and sales-oriented manner. Communicate with SAS staff, lot support personnel, and management when problem vehicles are found, and when external customers are requesting assistance. Must be able to work in all types of weather and seasonal conditions. Must have the ability to work independently and with initiative. Be proactive in facilitating lot movement by monitoring lot conditions, vehicle locations, and sale cadences.
