About The Position

Manage internal and vendor loss control resources, ensuring the effective evaluation of property and casualty hazards and controls for current and prospective policyholders, dedicating no less than 50% of own time to completing Loss Control inspections. This role primarily covers the Chicago, IL area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, safety, or risk management OR Associate in Risk Management designation required.
  • 10 years experience evaluating property and casualty risks required.
  • Experience presenting risk improvement opportunities in a manner that achieves customer buy-in and recommendation compliance.
  • Possess familiarity with local and national building and fire codes.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Professional attitude and superior people skills.
  • Experience in presenting on risk topics in front of an external audience.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle with valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders to investigate properties.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret data for branch book of business to identify account service opportunities and policyholder and agent/broker loss control resource needs.
  • Deliver the GNY Loss Control value proposition through impactful policyholder service, including producing loss analyses, developing service proposals, achieving customer buy-in, and executing service plans.
  • Collaborate with and support branch management and underwriters in new business acquisition through direct agent/broker and client engagements, including speaking engagements, developing and presenting policyholder service strategies, and coordinating renewal underwriting surveys and recommendation follow-up.
  • Develop loss control guidance documents, evaluation tools, and supplemental forms to support underwriting decision making and the GNY Loss Control value proposition.
  • Support the development of internal technical knowledge in the assigned office.
  • Pursue professional development of skills, knowledge, and abilities, including designations and industry knowledge.
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.
