About The Position

Harford Mutual is looking for a Loss Control Intern to support the Loss Control team during summer of 2027. This position is for full-time students who are currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing career opportunities in Occupational Safety, EHS or Insurance related field.

  • Must be a full-time undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, EHS, or related field.

  • Strong collaborating skills, and an ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Research and further develop virtual Loss Control Survey process and resources.
  • Develop new safety bulletins/flyers on specific safety topics for insureds and agents.
  • Conduct Loss Control survey ride-alongs to get familiar with Loss Control and different industries.
  • Help in the recommendation process from getting recommendation letters out to insureds as well as reviewing incoming recommendations for compliance.
  • Review completed self-inspections (surveys) for hazard identification and development of recommendations.
  • Assist in planning, development and design of Loss Control reporting and documentation.
  • Work closely with our UW partners to determine what factors would be most important in a virtual small account survey and align virtual survey reporting with Underwriting needs.
  • Research tools and technology that would be beneficial for loss control surveys.
  • Assisting with data reporting and analytics specific to Loss Control survey report, recommendations, and Underwriting decisions, post-survey.
  • Assist with department projects, such as recommendation library, survey report form updates, opinion of risk rating guide, and working with Marketing on the development of toolbox talks and other technical resources.
