About The Position

New Trier High School is seeking a long-term substitute teacher for an approximately 12-week assignment, approximately March 1, 2027, through May 21, 2027. The teacher will teach two sections of AP Economics and two sections of Honors Economics at the Winnetka Campus. Compensation is $77.85 per block. The position is supervised by the Social Studies Department Chair.

Substitute teachers are expected to provide an environment conducive to a positive learning experience, use technology to enhance instruction, communicate clearly with staff and students, and follow the policies and procedures in the New Trier Substitute Teacher Handbook. Upon hiring, substitutes must attend mandatory training and complete required online training before being placed in a classroom; only officially hired individuals on the approved list may attend training sessions.

Requirements

• Prior experience teaching AP Economics or AP Economics certification.
• Economics endorsement.
• Valid Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License or Substitute License registered in North Cook Intermediate Service Center, Region 05.
• The ISBE Short Term Substitute License is not accepted.
• Ability to move about frequently in the classroom and in various other parts of the school.
• Exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and distinctly with staff and students.
