About The Position

The Long Term Substitute Teacher will engage students in learning, manage student behavior, and prepare them to become productive citizens. This role involves creating a flexible learning environment, meeting individual student needs, and motivating students to develop essential skills. The teacher will also establish positive relationships with students, parents, and staff, and supervise students within assigned areas. Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, delivering instruction, providing accommodations for diverse learners, and collaborating with colleagues to address instructional issues. The teacher will respond to inquiries from parents and guardians and foster a culture of empowerment, inclusivity, and support for all children.

Requirements

  • Indiana License to teach in appropriate grade/subject or Indiana Substitute Teacher License

Responsibilities

  • Engage students in learning, manage student behavior in a positive, proactive and constructive manner for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Prepare students to become productive responsible citizens through positive proactive engagement and modeling.
  • Create a flexible program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
  • Establish effective rapport with students, seek to meet individual student needs.
  • Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continuing education.
  • Establish positive relationships with students, parents and other staff members.
  • Supervise students within assigned areas and as needed.
  • Develop Lesson plans.
  • Deliver group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines.
  • Provide diverse learners with accommodations and modifications to ensure learning.
  • At a minimum provide the legally required modifications and accommodations as outlined in each child’s IEP, 504 plan, Health Care Plan or other legally mandated document.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, administrators to address instructional and/or classroom issues.
  • Respond to a wide range of inquiries from students, parents, and guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.
  • Create and support a culture that empowers students.
  • Encourage a culture of inclusiveness and support for all children.
