About The Position

This is a long-term substitute teaching position for a 3rd-grade class. The teacher will be responsible for providing instruction in accordance with the approved program and assisting in the daily operation of the school. Performance will be evaluated annually. The position is a 10-month role.

Requirements

  • New Jersey Certification in specific subject areas or grades to be taught.

Responsibilities

  • Plans a program of study and lessons consistent with the approved course of study and that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Implements the District’s philosophy of education and the State, District, and School’s instructional goals and objectives.
  • Ensures satisfactory pupil progress and growth toward stated objectives of instruction.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives and fostering positive attitudes toward learning.
  • Develops effective procedures for classroom operation and management, and for following routine school procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate student behavior in the classroom, school building, and school grounds, exercising due care for the health, safety, and well-being of students.
  • Assesses pupils in accordance with District testing policy and program, interprets results, and uses the information for planning instruction, reporting student growth, and improving curriculum.
  • Assists in curriculum development and the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Works toward professional growth and meets the role model standards of a professional educator.
  • Maintains cordial and workable professional and social relationships with staff, students, parents, and community members.
  • Displays respect towards the rights and feelings of students, encouraging students to develop respect for the rights, feelings, opinions, and property of others.
  • Confers with students and parents to foster constructive student-teacher and parent-teacher relationships.
  • Maintains appropriate student records and submits required reports within designated time limits.
  • Contributes to after-school functions and student activities of the school unit.
  • Gives proper attention to the care and protection of school property and uses materials economically.
  • Adheres to and promotes the philosophy and objectives of the school, administrative staff, and Board of Education, interpreting policies and programs positively.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the administrative staff.
