Isidore Newman School seeks a dynamic and intellectually curious Upper School Science teacher for a long-term substitute position from approximately mid-September to mid-October, 2026. Courses include three sections of ninth-grade Biology and two sections of AP Biology. Newman's Science Department is a point of pride in the Upper School: seven full-time educators working in The Rupa and Tarun Jolly Science and Technology Building, a three-story facility opened in 2020 with nine state-of-the art classrooms and four signature labs designed to inspire inquiry, experimentation, and innovation. Our curriculum values both rigorous scholarship and hands-on exploration. Long-term substitutes benefit from the support of strong colleagues and an engaged department chair, while also being expected to hit the ground running and quickly master classroom routines, curriculum pacing, and school practices. Successful long-term subs are self-starters who can design and implement their own materials, adapt to students' needs, and maintain instructional momentum. At the same time, they are flexible and work closely with the department chair to ensure alignment with departmental expectations and Newman's broader academic norms. Our Five Guiding Principles guide everything we do at Newman.
