Long Term Substitute - Math Interventionist
About The Position
The Menasha Joint School District seeks a Long-Term Substitute Math Interventionist to provide targeted mathematics instruction and intervention for upper elementary students. The Math Interventionist will work with students individually and in small groups to strengthen foundational math skills, address learning gaps, and support continued academic progress. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching mathematics at the upper elementary level, particularly grades 5–6, and will be comfortable using student data to identify instructional needs and provide targeted support. Experience with AVMR (Add+VantageMR) is preferred.
Requirements
- Valid teaching certification or substitute teaching permit.
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction licensure appropriate for the assignment, or eligibility to serve as a substitute teacher in Wisconsin.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students.
- Strong mathematics content knowledge and instructional skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers and school staff.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is preferred.
- Previous teaching experience in mathematics at the upper elementary level, particularly grades 5–6.
- Experience providing mathematics intervention or small-group instruction.
- AVMR training or experience.
- Experience using student data to plan and monitor targeted instruction.
Responsibilities
- Provide targeted mathematics intervention to individual students and small groups.
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned math instruction based on identified student needs.
- Use student assessment and progress-monitoring data to identify areas of need and adjust instruction.
- Support students in developing mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, number sense, and conceptual understanding.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff to coordinate intervention services and support student growth.
- Communicate regularly with classroom teachers regarding student progress, instructional strategies, and areas of continued need.
- Maintain appropriate records of student intervention and progress.
- Establish positive relationships with students and create a supportive, engaging learning environment.
- Participate in building-level meetings and professional learning as appropriate to the position.
- Perform other duties consistent with the role as assigned by the building administrator.
