About The Position

The Helen Keller Middle School in Easton, CT is seeking a Long Term Substitute Custodian. This temporary position is available from April 27, 2026, and is expected to last for 4-6 weeks. The working hours during training are Monday through Friday, either 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The role involves a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and security of the school building. The successful candidate will be paid $24 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community
• Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies

Responsibilities

• Cleans and monitors designated spaces and equipment in the building, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping and waxing floors; rubbish removal
• Cleans and disinfects bathroom sinks, toilets and urinals, mirrors
• Check hand soap, paper towel, & tissue supplies
• Cleans classroom sinks/faucets
• Replaces light bulbs as needed
• Unlocks and locks premises, secures windows and activates/deactivates the alarm systems
• Cleans and maintains custodial equipment daily after each use
• Helps in unloading of freight as needed with delivery to specified areas
• Moves classroom furniture as needed
