About The Position

Liberty Local Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Teacher for a 6th Grade Social Studies class. This position may transition to a 5th Grade English Language Arts teacher for the 2026/2027 school year due to internal staff movement. The role is expected to last for the entire 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging lesson plans, fostering a positive classroom environment, and supporting the academic growth of students. This is a temporary assignment offering an opportunity to make a significant impact on a student's educational journey.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, Reading/ELA or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification or ability to obtain.
  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans and utilize various teaching methods.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a positive classroom culture that supports diverse learners.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with differentiated instruction and personalized learning strategies is a plus.
  • Experience with classroom management and differentiated instruction.
  • Familiarity with current Social Studies and/or ELA standards, curriculum, technology, and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive lesson plans in Social Studies or ELA that align with grade curriculum and state standards.
  • Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Assess student progress through various methods, including assignments, quizzes, and projects, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive educational experience and share best practices for instruction.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding academic and behavioral expectations.
  • Manage classroom behavior and implement strategies to foster respect and responsibility among students.
  • Participate in school meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as needed.
  • Adapt lesson plans to accommodate the diverse learning needs of all students in the classroom.
