About The Position

BDI Marine Contractors is a growing, family-owned marine construction company specializing in docks, seawalls, pile driving, and waterfront structures. We’re looking for an experienced Long Reach Excavator Operator to join our team and help execute projects safely and efficiently. The Long Reach Excavator Operator is responsible for operating specialized excavators for marine and site work, including shoreline work, and material placement. This role requires precision, awareness of surroundings, and the ability to work in and around water.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience operating excavators
• Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently in tight or sensitive environments
• Strong awareness of surroundings and jobsite safety
• Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

• Long reach experience preferred
• Experience working around water or on marine projects is a plus
• Marine construction (docks, seawalls, dredging)
• Working from barges or temporary platforms
• GPS or grade control systems
• CDL (a plus, not required)

Responsibilities

• Operate long reach excavators for marine and site construction projects
• Perform dredging, grading, excavation, and material placement
• Work in and around water, barges, and shoreline environments
• Follow grade stakes, plans, and direction from supervisors
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
• Coordinate with ground crews and signalmen
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
