About The Position

This role is responsible for delivering products, ensuring accuracy, and assisting customers with offloading. The driver will maintain excellent customer service, manage financial transactions (C.O.D.s), and optimize routes by maximizing backhauls and fueling at specified terminals. Adherence to safety regulations, including EEOC, OSHA, Leggett & Platt, and DOT regulations, is paramount. The driver will also be responsible for securing loads, maintaining the cleanliness of the tractor and trailer, and performing other duties as directed by the Traffic Manager. Daily communication with the Traffic Manager or Dispatcher, preparation of daily reports, and maintaining effective inter-departmental communication are key aspects of the role. The driver has the authority to prevent non-conformities, identify and record problems, recommend solutions, verify their implementation, and control non-conforming products until corrected.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to maintain a "Logbook".
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness of tractor and trailer.
  • Ability to ensure loads are secure.
  • Ability to assist customers in offloading products.
  • Ability to manage money/C.O.D.s.
  • Effective communication skills for inter-departmental interaction and daily contact with Traffic Manager or Dispatcher.
  • Ability to prepare daily reports.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy of products delivered.

  • Comply with Leggett & Platt and State and Federal DOT regulations.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Traffic Manager.
  • Contacts Traffic Manager or Dispatcher on a daily basis.
  • Prepares daily reports on the quality/quantity of incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Maintain effective inter-department communication.
  • Adhere to the Leggett & Platt safety, environmental and conduct Policies.
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process and/or the system.
  • Identify and/or record any problems relating to the product, process and the quality system.
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions.
  • Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
