About The Position

The Logistics technician is responsible for coordinating domestic and international shipments, maintaining accurate receiving and inventory records, and supporting overall warehouse and logistics operations. This role works closely with freight forwarders, customers, vendors, purchasing, sales, planning, production, and quality teams to ensure timely and accurate movement of materials and products while supporting company goals related to safety, quality, delivery, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5–10 years of experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, warehouse operations, or international freight coordination.
  • Experience managing domestic and international customer shipments.
  • Working knowledge of import/export documentation and shipping compliance requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems and inventory transactions preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of warehouse operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to identify problems, recommend solutions, and drive process improvements.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment; certification training provided if needed.
  • Candidates are required to be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule outbound domestic and international shipments in accordance with customer requirements and delivery deadlines.
  • Work closely with freight forwarders, carriers, and customers to arrange pickups and resolve shipping-related issues.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to provide updates on customer orders requiring shipment and communicate shipment status as needed.
  • Work closely with the Planning team to allocate and prioritize orders requiring shipment to support on-time delivery goals.
  • Schedule local shipments to ensure on-time customer delivery.
  • Notify Will Call customers when orders are ready for pickup.
  • File Electronic Export Information (EEI) through the Automated Export System (AES) for applicable international shipments.
  • Prepare commercial invoices and consolidate orders where appropriate.
  • Generate and process Bills of Lading (BOL), shipping documents, airway bills, and export declarations as required.
  • Create DHL, UPS, and FedEx shipments while ensuring customer information and shipping data are accurate and current.
  • Verify ATS certifications and ensure shipping documentation matches job packets and serial numbers prior to release.
  • Ensure all shipping paperwork, labeling, and box counts are complete and accurate before submission to Shipping/Receiving.
  • Maintain daily shipping logs and tracking spreadsheets, including customer notification dates, shipment approvals, and pickup schedules.
  • Resolve issues related to delayed pickups, shipment discrepancies, or mis-shipments.
  • Scan and maintain shipping documentation records in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
  • Assist with loading shipments and outsourced materials as needed.
  • Maintain forklift certification and operate material handling equipment safely.
  • Receive and process incoming shipments into the ERP system with a high level of accuracy.
  • Verify received materials against purchase orders, packing slips, and receiving documentation.
  • Accurately record part numbers, quantities, heat numbers, and lot traceability information.
  • Coordinate with the Purchasing department to resolve discrepancies or receiving issues.
  • Process receiving documentation in accordance with departmental and quality procedures.
  • Assist with unloading incoming shipments using appropriate equipment and safe material handling practices.
  • Develop and maintain departmental performance metrics related to receiving operations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Manage inventory of finished goods and packages staged for shipment.
  • Maintain accurate counts and status of packages, parts, sales order lines, and shipping documentation.
  • Ensure dock inventory is organized, labeled, and easily accessible for shipment preparation.
  • Develop and publish weekly and monthly inventory and shipping metrics aligned with company objectives.
  • Identify and implement inventory control improvements to enhance department efficiency and accuracy.
