About The Position

This position is responsible for management and communications with suppliers. This includes tracking outputs, capacity planning, and continuous communication with suppliers, who may be international. The role involves providing a master schedule to production, daily communication with planners to avoid supplier shortages, troubleshooting SAP issues, and working with aftersales for demands. Ensuring the master schedule is loaded into SAP properly, accurately, and timely is crucial, as is running the MPS for supplier schedule distribution. The specialist will lead production meetings, track production performance, and take corrective actions. Responsibilities also include maintaining finished goods inventory levels and accuracy, establishing daily production planning, releasing material against blanket purchase orders, communicating schedule updates, managing inventory levels for selected items, tracking supplier delivery performance, driving corrective actions with late suppliers, and working to eliminate root causes of inventory inaccuracy. The role involves managing the daily part shortage report, expediting materials, reducing excess inventory, and collaborating with the logistics coordinator to reduce freight costs. Planners are also responsible for proposing process improvements and managing key reports and metrics. Additionally, the role involves monitoring daily incoming EDI, minimizing premium freight impacts, setting up new customer scheduling agreements and part numbers, comparing customer demand to contracted capacity, alerting if demand exceeds MCR, developing partnerships with customers, ensuring customer requirements are met, setting up expedites, maintaining customer systems, monitoring customer orders, negotiating premium expenses, analyzing customer releases, and responding promptly to customer requests. For pre-production activities, the specialist will receive customer POs, analyze deviations, define and manage production planning for finished goods pre-production parts, send releases to suppliers, ensure availability of pre-production parts, maintain accurate inventory, establish lead times, fulfill logistics checklists, interface with logistics and customer receiving, perform SAP transactions, establish cost-effective shipment methods, roll out supplier expectations, establish program ramp-up plans, travel to suppliers, report logistics progress, and serve as a liaison to external departments.

Requirements

  • Previous planning experience, specifically within customer/supplier relations and production line planning is required.
  • Basic language skills required.
  • Extensive math skills required for data management.
  • Strong ability to make independent decisions that may be of a complex nature.
  • Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel (Preferably including PowerBI experience), PowerPoint and Outlook software.
  • Skills and knowledge of SAP and other software packages (Ex: Axalant, Test Software).
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate with coworkers and all personnel levels (VP, BU Mgr, line workers).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining finished goods inventory levels at target and inventory accuracy.
  • Establish daily production planning in line with cost effective runs mutually accepted plan.
  • Release material against blanket purchase orders (Domestic and International Suppliers) to support production schedule as well as pass-thru business.
  • Communicate schedule updates with suppliers on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for the management of inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected item, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production levels.
  • Track Supplier delivery performance and follow up on past due suppliers.
  • Drive corrective action with all late suppliers.
  • Communicate information as required to departments and personnel within the company.
  • Work to drive out root causes of inventory inaccuracy, with the goal of improving overall system reliability.
  • Manage part shortage report on daily basis and report as necessary in production meeting.
  • Follow-up and expedite materials as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Reduce excess inventory to increase inventory turns.
  • Work with the logistics coordinator to reduce freight costs.
  • Propose process improvements and the generation or management of key reports and metrics.
  • Monitor the daily incoming EDI.
  • Minimize any premium freight impacts.
  • Set up new customer scheduling agreements and part numbers according to internal order from sales.
  • Check the customer demand compare to the capacity contracted and alert if the demand is over MCR.
  • Develop partnership with customer.
  • Work with shipping to ensure all customer requirements are clearly understood and met.
  • Set up expedites to the customer as required and communicate with Transportation Company to preclude delays in transit.
  • Maintain all customer systems (Covisint, DDL, Smart, Supply Power).
  • Monitor customer orders and communicate any significant fluctuations.
  • Negotiate any premium expenses with the customer that may result from customer order changes.
  • Analyze customer releases for short term changes and long term forecast.
  • Responsible for the relationship with the customer material planner and prompt responses to all customer requests.
  • Receive customer PO thru sales organization and/or customer integrated release engineer.
  • Analyze the customer deviation.
  • Define and responsible for the production planning for the finished goods pre production parts in line with the program time line.
  • Send the release to the suppliers for the pre production parts without a scheduling agreement (SA).
  • Responsible for the availability of the pre production parts from suppliers to meet the production plan.
  • Responsible for accurate inventory of all supplier pre production parts in house.
  • Establish lead time and communicate material delivery target date.
  • Responsible for fulfilling the logistics checklist for each gate of the new program.
  • Interface with the logistics department about packaging definition and line side lay out.
  • Interface with customer receiving areas as needed.
  • Perform all necessary SAP transactions (material movements, sales orders, shipping etc).
  • Establish cost effective shipment method for pre production parts.
  • Responsible for roll out of supplier expectations – Logistics manual, understanding releases, shipment guidelines.
  • Establish program ramp up plan that supports production for distribution to suppliers.
  • Travel to suppliers as needed.
  • Reporting of Logistics progress toward program milestones/gates to management.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper hand off of part responsibility to Production Planners.
  • Liaison to external departments for pre production activities.
