About The Position

Under general supervision, the Logistics Specialist, CDL-A, HAZMAT Driver is responsible for all delivery, transport, and fueling, of government and company owned materials and equipment. Operate vehicles and material handling equipment to facilitate the safe loading, unloading and transportation of furniture, materials and equipment. Operate computer equipment, as required, to obtain data and/or input data. Perform any work assigned to the employees in this classification. Perform work in other classifications when incidental but necessary to accomplish work assignment. Performs work in compliance with Federal, State, local, NASA and Air Force laws and regulations and requirements and KSC/CCAFS relating to the business of the section, working within the limits of established policy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Three (3) years working in transportation/logistics and/or other related functions.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Commercial Driver’s License (Class A) with fuel Tanker Endorsement and Hazardous Endorsement.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain required clearances/badges as required.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written in an effective manner.
  • Possess good organizational and communication skills
  • Receive direction and pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to work with computers, tablets, smartphones and Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Must possess forklift certifications for forklifts up to and including 30K, when assigned to areas requiring use of a forklift.

Responsibilities

  • Operate multiple types of transport vehicles to provide delivery and transportation support as required.
  • Operate a gasoline/diesel tanker vehicle to provide fueling support to vehicles, mobile and stationary equipment.
  • Provide inter-center moves support per approved work orders.
  • Deliver, install and assemble ergonomic furniture.
  • Support Public Affair Office (PAO) events as required.
  • Transport material for property disposal as required.
  • Arrange for local pick-up of items not available through normal transportation channels to meet schedules.
  • Maintain logs and record, as required.
  • Report all job-related discrepancies to management.
  • Possess and maintain certifications, area access, licenses and permits for performance of assigned tasks.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.
