About The Position
MedSpeed is a healthcare logistics company that partners with organizations nationwide to transport medical supplies and specimens. The Logistics Service Representative/Medical Driver safely transports lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials in a company-owned vehicle. The role uses a handheld scanning device to track items and requires adherence to operating procedures and service schedules, professional interactions with clients and the public, and teamwork and adaptability. Routes and duties may vary according to client and business needs. This is a full-time position in Duluth, Minnesota, scheduled Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The listed pay rate is $17 per hour. Candidates must meet the stated driving, screening, and physical requirements. Offers are contingent on a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review.
Requirements
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- At least 19 years of age and an active driver's license held for at least 3 years.
- Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
- Familiarity working with and adapting to technology.
- Ability to follow procedures closely.
- Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
- Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening.
- Ability to operate company vehicles equipped with dashcam recording systems, with video captured in accordance with applicable laws and company safety policies.
- Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent driving history.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination depending on location and local mandates.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, handle varying item weights, and lift items off storage racks.
- Comfort walking long distances and standing for long periods.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
- Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
- Use a handheld scanning device to accurately track items throughout the transportation cycle.
- Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
- Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interaction.
- Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
- Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and keep the vehicle clean, neat, and orderly.
- Perform duties across assigned routes as needed; route assignments and duties may change based on client and business needs.
- Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
- Help build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.
