About The Position

The role of the Logistics Port Lead Supervisor directly supports Nordex's mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As the Logistics Port Lead Supervisor, you will lead and coordinate all port, laydown yard, and cargo storage operations associated with wind turbine component logistics and vessel discharge activities. This role serves as the primary onsite representative for port logistics operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant vessel discharge, inventory management, component preservation, transportation coordination, and contractor performance. You will play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction throughout all logistics activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Operations, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in port operations, heavy-lift logistics, project cargo, maritime operations, renewable energy logistics, or related industries.
  • Experience supervising contractors and third-party service providers.
  • Experience supporting large-scale industrial construction or renewable energy projects preferred.
  • Experience managing HSE and quality programs within logistics operations preferred.
  • Wind energy and turbine logistics experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of vessel discharge operations and heavy-lift cargo handling.
  • Understanding of inventory control, warehouse operations, and component preservation practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within fast-paced, schedule-driven environments.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and non-conformance management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management systems.
  • Valid driver's license and passport required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Ability to meet specific OSHA and ANSI weight limits of 265 lbs. or less.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination to safely perform the essential functions of the role.
  • Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver's license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver's abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
  • Properly use applicable safety equipment, including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, and hard hats. Loose-fitting clothing and jewelry are not permitted.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English-speaking supervisors and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead onsite vessel discharge operations from arrival through completion of unloading activities.
  • Coordinate daily operations with stevedores, crane operators, terminal personnel, vessel crews, transportation providers, and port authorities.
  • Monitor vessel discharge progress and productivity to ensure project schedule adherence.
  • Verify safe handling and movement of wind turbine components including blades, towers, nacelles, hubs, drivetrains, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Ensure components are discharged, stored, preserved, and released in accordance with project requirements and company procedures.
  • Oversee storage yard operations, inventory management, and accurate component tracking.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings and field inspections while promoting a zero-incident safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with company, customer, port, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate incidents and support implementation of corrective actions.
  • Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for logistics operations and stakeholder communications.
  • Provide operational updates, identify risks, and support mitigation and recovery planning.
  • Support transportation loading activities and cargo release coordination.
  • Inspect cargo condition and document damage, shortages, or non-conformances.
  • Maintain daily operational reports, inventory records, inspection documentation, and handover packages.
  • Supervise contractors and service providers performing port and storage yard activities.
  • Monitor contractor performance related to safety, quality, productivity, and operational expectations.
  • Assist with operational planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
