About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Logistics Manager to oversee daily operations across two warehouse locations. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of inbound and outbound logistics, including truck scheduling, freight cost optimization, warehouse productivity, and team leadership. The Logistics Manager will lead a team of 15–20 employees and play a key role in driving operational efficiency, cost savings, and customer satisfaction across both sites — partnering closely with the SC Plant Manager on inbound silica and finished-goods flow, and with corporate operations in Florida on retail commitments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive logistics, transportation, or warehouse management experience, including multi-site responsibility.
  • 3+ years of direct people-management experience leading teams of 10 or more.
  • Strong knowledge of freight modes (LTL, FTL, parcel), rate negotiation, and carrier management.
  • Working knowledge of WMS, TMS, and ERP systems; proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams; strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel regularly between both warehouse locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing freight RFPs and carrier bid processes.
  • Forklift certification and ability to train others on safe equipment operation.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and warehouse safety compliance.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, APICS, or similar professional certification.
  • Experience supporting retail / big-box customer commitments (Lowe's, The Home Depot, Walmart, Amazon).
  • Military veteran background.

Responsibilities

  • Embody and actively promote the company's core values across both warehouse locations.
  • Build a culture that reflects the BDC brand standard: customer-first, performance-driven, and accountable.
  • Motivate and develop a workforce that takes ownership and continuously raises the bar on accuracy, speed, and safety.
  • Set the tone for the dock floor — every load, every label, every count.
  • Oversee daily operations of two warehouse facilities, ensuring efficient receiving, storage, inventory accuracy, and shipping.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistency, safety, and productivity across both locations.
  • Ensure both facilities remain organized, compliant with OSHA standards, and audit-ready at all times.
  • Leverage logistics software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools to monitor performance, automate processes, and make informed decisions — with a focus on systems integration.
  • Run a fluent warehouse operation: receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and labeling — including inventory accuracy, FIFO, just-in-time, replenishment, slotting, and cycle counting.
  • Schedule inbound and outbound trucks to optimize dock utilization, minimize detention, and meet customer delivery commitments.
  • Source, negotiate, and book freight (LTL, FTL, parcel, and intermodal as applicable) to secure the most cost-effective and reliable carrier options.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, brokers, and 3PL partners to ensure service levels and competitive pricing.
  • Continuously analyze freight spend, lane performance, and carrier scorecards to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Resolve transportation issues such as delays, damages, and claims in a timely, professional manner.
  • Directly manage a team of 15–20 warehouse associates, leads, and support staff across both locations.
  • Lead recruiting and hiring efforts in partnership with HR, including interviewing, selection, and onboarding of new team members.
  • Develop and deliver training programs covering equipment operation, safety, warehouse processes, and company policies.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear expectations, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Administer corrective action and performance improvement plans consistent with company policy and applicable employment law.
  • Build schedules and manage staffing levels to align with workload, seasonality, and budget.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture across both warehouses.
  • Manage the logistics and warehouse operating budget, including labor, freight, supplies, and equipment.
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives across freight, labor utilization, and warehouse processes.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, Finance) to support business objectives.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects using Lean, 5S, or similar methodologies.
