About The Position

This position works as a part of our management team. The ideal candidate is a proven leader who can effectively manage inventory, foster strong relationships with internal departments and external companies, and ensure all fuel sites adhere to established state and federal policies and programs. The Logistics Manager oversees warehousing, inventory control, and vendor management operations of four parts rooms (one at four different vehicle maintenance facilities) that provide fleet parts for vehicles owned and operated by Fairfax County and Fairfax County Public Schools. Also, oversees the procurement, storage, distribution, and compliance of fuel supplies to ensure supply meets demand efficiently, while adhering to environmental and safety regulations at 54 fuel sites across the county. At times, may provide advice on the closure and new construction of fuel sites. Supervises activities related to the installation and maintenance of electric vehicle charging stations at various county facilities. Responsibilities include: Coordinating daily fuel deliveries and ongoing maintenance, repair, and scheduled inspections of fuel sites. Regularly drives to remote work locations to visit fuel sites. Coordinating with internal and external customers on all aspects of inventory management at four vehicle maintenance facilities. Developing, reviewing, and making award recommendations for Information for Bids (IFBs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and administering contracts for parts, services, and fuel project designs. Conducting field visits to evaluate fuel projects, which include electric vehicle charging stations. Leading employees, including delegating and reviewing work assignments, providing coaching and guidance, monitoring and evaluating performance, and supporting training and development. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in field related to the assigned functional area; plus, four years of professional work experience within the functional area.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Completion of a criminal background check, credit check, and driving record check.
  • Ability to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.
  • Ability to conduct site visits from Government Center to remote work locations.
  • Ability to operate keyboard-driven equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform all duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in a fleet maintenance environment.
  • Experience in parts and fuel management.
  • Experience in inventory management.
  • Progressively responsible procurement experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting purchasing regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, i.e. Word and Excel.
  • Bilingual in English and another language.
