About The Position

The Logistics Lead is a non-union operations support role responsible for providing administrative, analytical, and field support to the Logistics Supervisor. The role focuses on supporting day-to-day logistics operations through ride-alongs, operational audits, route updates, workforce planning, investigations, recruitment support, and continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with Supervisors, Dispatch, Couriers, and internal stakeholders, the Logistics Lead gathers information, identifies operational opportunities, and supports service excellence through administrative and operational activities. The position requires flexibility to support operational needs. Shift patterns and hours are subject to change based on operational requirements (may include weekends and evenings).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years recent experience in courier operations
  • A valid Ontario Class G Driver’s license (Ontario), full valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license (British Columbia), or full valid Class 5 SK Driver’s license (Saskatchewan); Clean driving abstract is considered an asset.
  • If required to operate a company vehicle, successful completion of the LifeLabs Driver Performance Evaluation will be required.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with routing, scheduling, or fleet management systems is considered an asset.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative working relationships.
  • Ability to travel between operational sites and participate in ride-alongs as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ride-alongs with Logistics Couriers to observe operational practices, provide field support and, assess adherence to safety and operational expectations, review identified operational exceptions, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Complete route reviews, route updates, and route optimization activities to support operational efficiency and service delivery.
  • Support workforce planning activities, including schedule development, coverage planning, and staffing recommendations.
  • Assist with the implementation of operational changes, new processes, and service enhancements.
  • Communicate operational observations, concerns, and recommendations to the Logistics Supervisor.
  • Conduct operational audits to support compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review operational reports and identify exceptions or trends requiring follow-up.
  • Provide clarification on operational expectations to couriers where appropriate and escalate significant concerns to the Logistics Supervisor.
  • Support investigations related to Non-Conforming Events (NCEs), Customer Experience Management (CEMS) cases, customer concerns, and operational incidents.
  • Gather information, complete preliminary fact-finding, and prepare documentation to support investigations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation while handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Complete administrative tasks and maintain accurate operational records.
  • Prepare confidential reports, summaries, and supporting documentation for Supervisors.
  • Assist with tracking operational trends and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Coordinate workforce scheduling activities to support operational requirements.
  • Coordinate the ordering and inventory of operational supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Support recruitment activities, including coordinating interviews, participating in candidate assessments, supporting onboarding activities, and maintaining recruitment documentation.
  • Support departmental projects and other operational initiatives as assigned.
  • Provide clarification on operational processes and procedures as requested.
  • Collaborate with Dispatch, Supervisors, Laboratory Operations, Patient Service Centres, and other internal stakeholders to support operational initiatives, service requirements, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Communicate operational updates and recommendations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
