The person in this position will work independently, performing a variety of highly responsible and frequently complex technical duties. This role supports the Transit Police Division, a unit of the Sheriff’s Office Community Partnership Section, with responsibility for the safe and secure storage of evidence/property, fleet/equipment purchasing, uniform acquisition/distribution, and other specialty service functions. The position supports all daily functions of the Transit Police Division to ensure continuity of operations aimed at providing a safe and welcoming public transportation system for all. The technician will interpret and apply all applicable laws and procedures regarding the evidence room, fleet service and procurement, as well as uniform standards and pricing. They will answer questions and explain department policies to officers and other County departments and suppliers. The role ensures fleet is maintained and operational, coordinating services and repairs of vehicles through the fleet maintenance shop. The technician will intake property/evidence from satellite secure storage areas throughout the Sheriff’s Office locations and transport items to a central facility. They will also perform general warehousing, and other specialty duties such as preparing paperwork, ordering, stocking, and receiving orders.
