Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. PSLD is responsible for the worldwide distribution of Cat aftermarket parts, integrated logistics, and global service to develop and support our global dealer network and customers. As the Logistics Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of logistics processes that support safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. Leveraging engineering principles, lean methodologies, and data-driven decision making, you will optimize material flow, warehouse operations, and supply chain performance to enhance productivity, quality, and customer service. This role partners with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and operations teams to develop innovative logistics solutions, drive automation initiatives, and ensure scalable processes that support business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience in engineering, operations, supply chain, or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience leading logistics engineering initiatives focused on safety improvements, operational efficiency, capacity expansion, material flow optimization, and continuous improvement within manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution environments.
  • Proven success managing capital projects and implementing automation solutions, including automated material handling systems, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), warehouse management technologies, and other Industry 4.0 initiatives that improve productivity and operational performance.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse and distribution operations, including facility layout design, material flow analysis, inventory storage strategies, process controls, capacity planning, and transportation optimization.
  • Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to identify waste, streamline processes, and deliver measurable operational improvements.
  • Ability to leverage data analytics and performance metrics to evaluate logistics processes, conduct root cause analysis, and develop sustainable corrective actions and process enhancements.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, and safety teams to develop and implement scalable logistics solutions that support business objectives.
  • Experience developing and maintaining engineering standards, process documentation, standard work, and best practices to drive consistency and operational excellence across logistics operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute logistics engineering projects focused on improving safety, increasing operational capacity, enhancing productivity, and advancing warehouse automation capabilities.
  • Design, analyze, and optimize material flow, storage strategies, transportation methods, and warehouse processes to improve operational performance and reduce costs.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement principles to identify waste, streamline workflows, and implement sustainable logistics solutions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, quality, and safety teams to identify improvement opportunities and develop effective process solutions.
  • Utilize data analytics, simulation tools, and performance metrics to evaluate logistics operations, identify trends, and recommend process enhancements.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal logistics engineering standards, best practices, methodologies, and tools to support current and future operations.
  • Develop and implement process controls, standard work, and performance measurement systems to ensure consistent execution and operational excellence.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for logistics and process-related issues, develop corrective actions, and drive implementation to prevent recurrence.
  • Support facility expansions, new product introductions, and operational changes by developing scalable logistics strategies and capacity plans.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and automation solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and overall supply chain performance.
  • Train, mentor, and support operational teams in the adoption of new logistics processes, systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Caterpillar management.
