About The Position

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Logistics Engineer for its East Peoria, IL facility. This role involves taking ownership of kitting processes, optimizing material flow, and ensuring operational excellence. The engineer will work with 3PL partners, oversee processes, and provide detailed analysis to drive efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement. This is an independent contributor position focused on process ownership, problem-solving, and strategic planning, aiming to meet Caterpillar’s goals in People/Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost. The team is dynamic and looking for someone to join them in this exciting position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain/business from an accredited college or university
  • Prior experience in SAP Mach1
  • Previous experience in other Logistics/Supply Chain roles
  • Demonstrated understanding of factory material flow and assembly production operations
  • Knowledge of NPI and Engineering Change Processes
  • Strong technical and data analysis skills
  • Strong customer focus and ability to influence
  • Experience using computers and Microsoft Office programs
  • Logistics Management: Understanding of logistics processes, inbound and outbound logistics considerations, and how logistics improvements contribute to competitive advantage.
  • Process Improvement: Ability to apply process improvement tools and support the implementation of efficient logistics solutions.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to use analysis techniques, identify root causes, evaluate alternatives and support practical problem solving.
  • Data Gathering and Analysis: Ability to collect and synthesize data from stakeholders and sources to support decisions, conclusions and process improvements.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of structured approaches, tools and techniques for recognizing, anticipating and resolving operational or process issues.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Ability to complete tasks with precision and understand the impact of errors within logistics and operations processes.
  • Accountability: Ability to take responsibility for assignments, decisions and results while focusing on work that supports business commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Applying process improvement tools and assisting with the implementation of efficient and competitive logistics solutions.
  • Coordinating with operations functions to define critical parameters and develop plans for process control and improvements.
  • Maintaining the internal logistics process engineering standards, knowledge, and tools; Assuring their implementation in current and new operations.
  • Evaluating logistics processes and workflows, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions for process-related concerns.
