About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Logistics Director to join their team in Raleigh, NC. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for the Atlantic Division's distribution, logistics, and warehousing infrastructure. The Director will translate the division's strategic and operating plans into efficient, compliant, and customer-focused day-to-day execution. The role involves developing and executing long-term logistics strategies to support growth, service excellence, operational efficiency, and enterprise supply chain objectives. A key responsibility is the design and delivery of a centralized logistics dispatching model for customers requiring STAT and will-call specimen pickup. The Director will drive operational excellence, margin improvement, and service quality across the specimen supply chain. This role requires partnering across laboratory operations, patient services, and division leadership to build a high-performing team and foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in operational excellence, distribution, logistics, warehousing, business
  • 10 years or more of logistics/supply chain and leadership experience.
  • Previous experience running logistics and warehouse operations, including developing and delivering annual operating budgets.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma, Agile, or a comparable methodology.
  • Experience working, presenting, and communicating with key executive stakeholders.
  • Inspiring leadership presence and emotional intelligence to influence executives, peers, and employees; strong work ethic and commitment to building a winning culture.
  • Success leading change, developing talent, and delivering service excellence.
  • Demonstrated strategic approach to drive performance and continuous improvement across a complex, geographically dispersed operation.
  • Familiarity with healthcare laboratory systems and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., CLIA, CAP, DOT).
  • Demonstrated experience leading in a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to analyze data, recognize patterns, and make informed recommendations; proficiency with Power BI and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Technical knowledge of the laboratory environment and pre-, peri-, and post-analytical process flows.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, modeling, resource allocation, and P&L management.
  • Effective verbal and written communication for diverse audiences and key stakeholders.
  • Ensures processes support internal and external customer needs for short- and long-term success.
  • Strong teamwork orientation with the ability to interact effectively across multiple disciplines and functions.
  • Proactively identifies problems and drives timely, preventive solutions in a dynamic environment.

  • 1 year or more healthcare, clinical laboratory, or diagnostics logistics experience, including specimen transport.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Atlantic division-wide distribution, logistics, and warehousing infrastructure, and execute the division's strategic and current-year business plans and budgets.
  • Develop and execute a plan for divisional centralized logistics dispatching to serve customers needing STAT and will-call specimen pickup, ensuring timely, reliable transport of patient specimens.
  • Create and drive strategies for a highly functioning, efficient distribution/logistics/warehousing network; build and improve processes that deliver operational efficiency, drive margin improvement, and advance objectives set by senior leadership.
  • Continuously review, optimize, and standardize courier routes, pickup service, new-account setup, and dispatch procedures, eliminating non-value-added activity.
  • Use Power BI to drive KPIs, performance metrics, and analytics; sustain and enhance existing dashboards to monitor performance and achieve divisional excellence across logistics and supply chain.
  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets; partner with Finance on the logistics P&L to drive profitable growth, cost excellence, and accurate forecasting.
  • Develop policies, SOPs, and procedures that support the operational infrastructure and ensure compliance with Labcorp standards.
  • Lead day-to-day operations to advance strategy, culture, talent development, and process excellence with an emphasis on productivity, efficiency, and quality.
  • Establish, follow, and enforce safety standards and procedures in compliance with a healthy work environment, regulatory requirements, and applicable transportation and healthcare regulations.
  • Manage relationships and contracts with carriers and third-party logistics providers to meet service-level agreements and optimize cost and performance.
  • Support the selection and use of logistics technologies (e.g., routing/dispatch, transportation and warehouse management systems) to improve operational visibility.
  • Bring in new ideas and best practices from other industries that excel in distribution, logistics, and warehousing to enhance service and margin.
  • Build a strong leadership pipeline; mentor, develop, and set performance objectives for the logistics team, fostering a culture of coaching, trust, and continuous improvement.
  • Support M&A projects with oversight of logistics integration into Labcorp, including due-diligence analysis of the selling party's logistics infrastructure, route network, and logistics personnel; plan and execute the transition of acquired operations to ensure seamless, low-disruption integration into the division's distribution, dispatch, and warehousing model.
