About The Position

The Logistics Coordinator (Operations Coordinator) oversees the coordination, scheduling, and routing of freight shipments across multiple transportation modes, with a primary focus on less-than-truckload (LTL) and full truckload movements within the United States, as well as select shipments between the U.S. and Canada or Mexico. This role serves as the key connection between customers and carriers, ensuring that load tenders are accurate, equipment requirements are met, and freight consistently picks up and delivers on time.

Requirements

  • Experience using transportation management systems or related management software (such as transportation or warehouse management systems).
  • Practical experience or familiarity with logistics and freight coordination, including shipping and receiving activities.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for handling shipment data and reports.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook for professional communication and coordination.
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach to scheduling, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Understanding of LTL shipping processes and terminology.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Capability to work effectively in a structured, process-driven logistics environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Management software experience in transportation, warehouse, or related supply chain systems.
  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or a related field is a plus, but not required.
  • Import/export experience or logistics dispatch experience that can be applied to freight coordination responsibilities.
  • Experience or working knowledge of various shipping modes, including drayage, LTL, truckload (TL), airfreight, consolidations, and intermodal.
  • Working knowledge of supply chain management principles, including international transportation management, is a strong plus.
  • Interest in long-term opportunities, with the potential for the role to become a permanent position for the right person.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, schedule, and route freight shipments via multiple modes, with a primary focus on LTL and full truckload movements within the United States.
  • Support the planning and execution of shipments between the U.S. and Canada or the U.S. and Mexico, ensuring compliance with routing and timing requirements.
  • Act as the direct link between customers and carriers, maintaining clear and timely communication regarding load tenders, shipment status, and any changes or issues.
  • Tender loads to carriers, confirming capacity, equipment type, and service levels meet customer and shipment requirements.
  • Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery to ensure on-time performance and proactively address any delays or disruptions.
  • Verify that equipment requirements are met for each shipment and coordinate adjustments when needed to maintain service quality.
  • Support shipping and receiving activities by ensuring accurate documentation, scheduling, and coordination of inbound and outbound freight.
  • Use transportation management systems and other management software to enter, update, and track shipment details and status.
  • Leverage Microsoft Excel and Outlook to manage shipment data, communicate with internal and external stakeholders, and maintain organized records.
  • Maintain organized, detailed records of shipments, schedules, and carrier interactions to support accurate reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to optimize routing, mode selection, and carrier utilization for cost-effective and reliable service.
  • Participate in side-by-side training and ongoing learning to build strong knowledge of transportation modes, logistics processes, and supply chain operations.
