About The Position

This role is to support a new factory in Prince George, VA (onsite) startup manufacturing large form-factor equipment. The product will be large (shipping container size), heavy (50+ tons), and complex. This position will be part of the core factory startup and onboarding team responsible for building the operations and manufacturing staff, fitting out the building, and creating the process flow/work instructions/etc. from the ground up. Skills to include: panel and point to point wire assembly, Medium Voltage, Low Voltage, and High Power Electronic assemblies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Certification by related professional organizations preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant exp in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Experience coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, working with carriers, tracking freight, and supporting buyers/procurement teams
  • Familiarity with SAP, ERP systems, and Excel for shipment tracking, documentation, and reporting
  • Self-starter who can work independently as the sole logistics resource onsite and isn't afraid to be on the production floor when needed
  • Strong communication and attention to detail, with experience managing international shipments, shipping documentation, and cross-functional/global stakeholder relationships

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the functional expert for all logistics-related systems and tools.
  • Support users with routine and advanced inquiries, including issues that require research and analysis.
  • Coordinate and facilitate training for new hires, system enhancements, new functionality, and upgrades.
  • Track, communicate, and support changes and enhancements to planning systems, including system upgrades.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of standardized departmental functions, processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Evaluate business systems, identify areas of concern, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Introduce, implement, and support corporate-designed tools and applications.
  • Monitor and assess existing processes and tools to ensure they meet business requirements.
  • Provide plant-wide support for system tools and related operational issues.
  • Identify opportunities for process and system improvements.
  • Gather and document requirements for enhancements submitted through Business Development Requests.
  • Develop initial functional specifications for system enhancements.
  • Assist with testing, validation, implementation, and rollout of new functionality, including plant-level training.
  • Define and document business processes, policies, and work instructions.
  • Assist the Customs Broker with customs clearance issues.
  • Review commercial invoices to ensure all required information is accurate and complete.
  • Approve inbound and outbound freight invoices.
  • Perform month-end allocation of freight charges.
  • Provide after-hours support for delayed inbound shipments.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with carriers and customs brokers to ensure effective service and shipment coordination.
  • Resolve inbound and outbound shipment issues to support production requirements.
  • Approve service levels for international carriers based on buyer lead times and business needs.
  • Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position, as directed by management.
  • Comply with and follow all procedures outlined in the company's security policies.
