About The Position

Mitchell Plastics is seeking a Materials Buyer/Planner for their Logistics Department at the Kitchener facility. This role is crucial for daily material planning, ordering, and management of all raw materials and components, ensuring production needs are met in a fast-paced, just-in-time environment. The position requires close cooperation with various teams including Procurement Sourcing, other Buyer/Planners, Scheduling, Production, Customer Service, Process, and Quality.

Requirements

2-3 Years’ Purchasing Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment
Strong Leadership, Communication (written & oral) & Organizational Skills
Strategic Planning & Negotiating Skills with Analytical Problem-Solving & Decision Making Abilities
Ability to rapidly respond to unforeseen developments and initiate actions to reduce negative impacts to production schedules.

Responsibilities

Procure all raw materials and components from assigned suppliers, as well as assigned MRO items, adhering to Departmental and IATF 16949 Purchasing Procedures.
Process Purchase Orders (POs), provide direction and development to suppliers, and release materials for production needs.
Monitor and analyze vendor costs, lead times, and delivery performance.
Release raw materials to/from vendors and expedite required materials to support ongoing production.
Manage minimum and maximum inventory and order levels as set by management.
Conduct audits/cycle counts of all raw materials and purchased parts to ensure accuracy and integrity of information in PLEX.
Interface with Production Supervision, Customer Service, Scheduling, other Buyers, and Receiving to support production and prevent line shortages or missed customer shipments.
