About The Position

A well-established company dealing in the agricultural, construction and event hire has a vacancy for a Logistics and Operations Manager to join their rapidly expanding offices based in Ceres. The main purpose of the position is to manage and optimize all logistics, servicing operations and staff, ensuring efficient service delivery, high customer satisfaction, cost control and a strong team performance.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Operations or Supply Chain
  • 5 years plus in logistics, operations, or fleet management
  • Experience managing teams in labour-intensive environments
  • Must reside in Ceres
  • Good communication and conflict management
  • Financial awareness and cost control

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of fleet and route management systems

Responsibilities

  • Plan, Schedule, and oversee daily delivery, servicing and collection of units
  • Optimize routing to improve efficiency and reduce fuel and time costs
  • Ensure all service level agreements are met
  • Manage breakdowns, urgent requests, and operational issues promptly
  • Monitor and improve operational KPI.
  • Lead, supervise and motivate drivers, cleaners and yard staff.
  • Set clear performance targets and manage productivity per team
  • Conduct regular team meetings, training, and performance reviews
  • Handle disciplinary processes, conflict resolution and HR issues
  • Build a positive, accountable and safety-focused team culture
  • Ensure proper and continuous skills development
  • Oversee fleet availability, maintenance and servicing schedules
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance of units and vehicles.
  • Monitor operational costs (fuel, labour, maintenance)
  • Manage overtime and staffing efficiency
  • Work within operational budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Report on cost per job, route efficiency and overall profitability
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Handle escalated complaints and resolve issues quickly
  • Maintain strong relationships with key clients
  • Enforce health and safety regulations and company policies
  • Ensure full PPE compliance and safe working practices
  • Conduct safety checks, toolbox talks, and incident investigations
  • Ensure environmental compliance in waste handling and disposal
  • Track and report on KPI’s (operations staff, costs, customer service)
  • Provide daily/weekly/monthly operational reports
  • Use data to improve planning and decision-making
