About The Position

The Logistics Analyst II will provide logistical and material support to the Joint Pathology Center. The role centers on maintaining accurate inventory and storage of pathological materials such as microscopic glass slides, paraffin blocks, and formalin-fixed human and animal tissues. The analyst will support case processing and ensure efficient material tracking, movement, and storage in compliance with DoD and medical logistics standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Warehousing experience, including inventory control and material handling.
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift/move heavy items regularly.
  • Comfortable handling formalin-fixed human and animal tissue specimens.
  • Knowledge of the Defense Supply System, including: Defense Small Purchase Procedures, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR), Supply Instructions.
  • Familiarity with medical and pharmaceutical terminology commonly used in hospital environments.
  • Experience with supply automation systems, procurement procedures, and office software.
  • Skilled in basic computer applications: word processing, email, spreadsheets, and data entry.
  • Customer-focused with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must pass a favorable federal background check and National Agency Check (NAC).

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge Receipt of Materials: Log microscopic glass slides, paraffin blocks, and formalin-fixed tissues into the computer tracking system using JPC accession numbers.
  • Sort and File Materials: Sort and file materials received, using the computer system to maintain order by JPC accession number.
  • Pull and Transfer Materials: Retrieve materials from files upon authorized request, record transfer in the computer tracking system, and forward to the requester.
  • Assist with Periodic Audits: Help regularly audit the repository files to identify lost or misplaced materials.
  • Load/Unload Shipments: Physically load and unload materials as they are received or shipped.
  • Maintain Stock Records and Reports: Establish and maintain inventory documents such as material control logs, accounting, and supply reports.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance Inspections: Perform QA inspections of assigned areas and respond to QA issues per regulatory requirements.
  • Inventory, Maintenance, and Stock Rotation: Conduct inventory, manage maintenance, and stock rotation of equipment and supplies.
  • Implement Inspection Programs: Monitor logistics preparation and ensure compliance with procedures for documentation, maintenance, preservation, use, and disposal of supplies.
  • Review and Update SOPs: Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are reviewed and updated accordingly.
  • Perform Equipment Quality Control: Conduct quality control checks on equipment; follow procedures for proper storage, distribution, and protection, emphasizing safety and security.
  • Assist with Equipment Policies and Procedures: Help implement policies/procedures related to equipment issuance, return, redistribution, and delivery.
  • Assist with Locating Materials: Support professional staff in processing or locating required materials.
  • Support Other Areas as Needed: Help other departmental areas as needed to ensure timely and accurate processing of case materials.
  • Transport Patient Materials: Move active and inactive patient materials between operational locations.
  • Adhere to Mandatory Documents and Change Orders: Follow all mandatory documentation and only implement changes with Contracting Officer approval.
