Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BCLS) Approved by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of therapeutic positioning techniques preferred.
• Previous transportation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe safety guidelines in transporting supplies, specimens and equipment.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when assisting in patient care.
• Take appropriate steps in maintaining equipment including those used for patient transport.
• Report observations and outcomes of activities performed.
• Reduce the risk of patient harm resulting from falls -observes patient for risk of falling and takes action to prevent patient falls.
• Demonstrate knowledge of normal growth and development in patient population.
• Improve the accuracy of patient identification - uses two identifiers when transporting patient between units/departments.
• Reduce the risk of health care acquired infection by following current CDC hand washing guidelines and CSMC isolation policy.
