About The Position

Thompson Hardwoods Inc. is seeking an experienced Log Yard Truck Driver to operate log trucks within their sawmill facility in Hazlehurst, GA. This role is crucial for safely and efficiently transporting logs throughout the yard to support mill operations. While a CDL is not required, prior experience operating log trucks is mandatory. The driver will be responsible for maneuvering in tight spaces, assisting with log staging, conducting pre-shift inspections, and adhering to all safety regulations and yard traffic patterns.

Requirements

• Previous experience driving log trucks required
• CDL not required (position operates within yard only)
• Strong understanding of log yard safety practices
• Ability to operate equipment safely in a fast-paced industrial environment
• Dependable with strong attendance record
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Operate log trucks within the sawmill yard to transport logs to designated areas
• Safely maneuver in tight spaces around equipment, log decks, and other vehicles
• Assist with staging and organizing logs for production
• Conduct pre-shift inspections of equipment and report maintenance issues
• Follow all yard traffic patterns and safety regulations
• Communicate with loaders, operators, and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow
