About The Position

Evolution Veterinary Specialists is seeking a board-certified (or residency-trained) Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a locum basis for the winter season of 2026-2027. This role offers the opportunity to practice advanced surgery in a state-of-the-art, AAHA-accredited specialty and emergency hospital located at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Lakewood, Colorado. The hospital boasts a large ICU, a four-suite surgery center, an on-site blood bank, specialty procedure suites, a full imaging center with CT, and advanced technology like laparoscopy and laser therapy. The locum surgeon will work alongside board-certified specialists and experienced ER doctors in a values-driven, privately owned environment that prioritizes transparency, support, and patient care.

Requirements

Colorado Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) License
Board Certification through ACVS or residency-trained
Registration with DORA
AVMA PLIT Insurance
DEA License

Responsibilities

Perform advanced soft tissue, orthopedic, and emergency surgical procedures.
Diagnose, treat, and manage surgical cases from consultation through recovery.
Utilize advanced diagnostic imaging and surgical technology.
Collaborate with specialists, emergency clinicians, technicians, and referring veterinarians.
Communicate treatment plans, estimates, and follow-up care with clients.
Maintain accurate medical records and participate in hospital rounds and meetings.
Mentor technical staff and support continuing education and hospital outreach.
Deliver compassionate, ethical, and high-quality patient care.
