The primary purpose and function of the Locum Veterinarian is to provide preventative care, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of Pets. This role involves ensuring the safety of Pets, clients, and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols, and maintaining clean treatment areas. The veterinarian will obtain client history, maintain medical records, educate clients on preventative care and health needs, and prescribe/administer treatments. Effective communication with the veterinary medical team and clients regarding diagnosis and treatment plans is essential. The role also requires adherence to local, state, and federal laws, including proper maintenance of controlled substance inventory logs, and understanding state guidelines for veterinary assistants and technicians.
