This is a 24-hour solo coverage role at a rural hospital, typically encompassing a 12-15 hour active shift with the remainder on-call. The physician will have access to sleeping accommodations either nearby or on-site. The role requires proficiency in both adult and pediatric procedures, including intubation, central line placement, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, neonatal circumcision, and neonatal UVC/peripheral line placement. COVID-19 vaccination is required. The hospital has 25 beds with an average of 18 daily encounters and a daily census of 14.25, including 4 ICU beds. Ancillary services like X-Ray, Lab, CT, Anesthesia, and various lab tests are available, along with eICU Intensivist sub-specialty support. The EMR system used is Cerner. The physician will have a dedicated call room within the facility. Credentialing and licensing expedition timelines are to be determined, with potential for expedited options and temporary telemed licenses. The shift structure involves 24-hour shifts with 12-15 hours on-site presence followed by night call, including admission and rounding responsibilities. Orientation is typically 4 hours on weekdays, with weekend shifts requiring weekday orientation. The client covers the initial overnight accommodation. Morning rounds are usually between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM. Informal evening rounds are encouraged. Efforts should be made to evaluate patients in the ED to minimize unnecessary admissions. Transition orders will be used for overnight admissions. Familiarity with patients anticipated for discharge is critical before rounds.
