About The Position

This is an on-site, contract position within the medical practice industry, offering immediate opportunities to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic clinical environment. As a Locum NP/PA in Gastroenterology, you will work closely with physicians and clinical staff to manage both inpatient and outpatient care, participate in diagnostic evaluations, and support procedural activities. This role is ideal for an Associate-level professional eager to expand their expertise in GI while enjoying flexibility and competitive compensation.

Requirements

  • Active Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in the state of Georgia.
  • Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program with national certification (ANCC, AANP, NCCPA).
  • Minimum 1-2 years of clinical experience; prior GI experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for patient and team interactions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced medical setting.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records systems.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Macon, GA, with a contract schedule.
  • ABLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior GI experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical exams, and symptom evaluation.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including lab work, imaging, and endoscopic studies.
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Assist in endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy, upper GI endoscopy, and capsule endoscopy.
  • Provide patient education on gastrointestinal conditions, treatment options, and preventive care.
  • Prescribe medications and manage follow-up care as permitted by state regulations.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and timely in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Coordinate with nursing and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow and quality care.
  • Participate in hospital consultations and coverage as needed.
  • Stay current with evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines in gastroenterology.
