Locum MD (Medical Doctor) Radiology
About The Position
This on-site contract position is for an associate-level physician providing diagnostic imaging services and supporting patient care in a collaborative clinical environment. The radiologist interprets diagnostic imaging studies, produces timely reports, and communicates findings to referring physicians. The role includes supervising a physician assistant, providing sign-off as needed, and assisting with procedures during busier periods. The daily volume is 10–15 procedures, including PICC lines, paracentesis, thoracentesis, midlines, and biopsies. The schedule is 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Paid travel and expenses are provided.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- Completion of a radiology residency program.
- Active and unrestricted medical license in the United States.
- Board certification in Diagnostic Radiology; the posting specifically states the physician must be board-certified.
- Proficiency in interpreting multiple imaging modalities.
- Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a team.
- Familiarity with PACS and electronic medical record systems.

- Prior experience in locum or contract radiology practice.
Responsibilities
- Interpret diagnostic imaging studies, including X-ray, CT, MRI, and ultrasound.
- Prepare accurate, detailed, and timely radiology reports.
- Promptly communicate critical and significant findings to referring physicians.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to support patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Maintain compliance with clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in peer review and quality assurance activities.
- Consult with referring providers on imaging selection and interpretation.
- Accurately document findings in the practice’s electronic medical record system.
- Adhere to patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Support continuity of care during locum coverage periods.
- Supervise the physician assistant and provide sign-off as needed.
- Assist with procedures during busier periods, including PICC lines, paracentesis, thoracentesis, midlines, and biopsies.
