About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a locum Emergency Trauma Radiologist to join a dynamic group of 40 academic Radiologists providing general and subspecialty diagnostic and interventional radiological services to Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and the University of British Columbia Hospital (UBC), both integral parts of the University of British Columbia (UBC) hospital system. The ER/TRAUMA section is one of the largest and most advanced academic Emergency Radiology groups in North America, operating 24/7/365 from a reading room centrally located within the VGH Emergency Department (ED). The department is fully digital with state-of-the-art equipment, including a third-generation dual-source/dual-energy CT. All department members are expected to engage fully in both clinical and non-clinical activities, including substantial contributions in research, education, and/or sectional administration. Teaching requirements include training Residents and Emergency Radiology Fellows annually. The role involves excellent collaborations with Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Trauma, Cardiology, Stroke, Critical Care services, and other radiology subspecialty sections. The successful candidates will practice CT, US, MRI, and General Radiography in a PACS environment within VGH and UBC Hospitals. Remuneration and vacation arrangements are competitive for the geographic region.

Requirements

  • MD degree (or equivalent).
  • Completed Fellowship training in Emergency Trauma Radiology, or several years of substantial Emergency Radiology experience in an accredited Level 1 Trauma Center.
  • Eligible for licensure in the Province of British Columbia.
  • Currently certified by, or eligible for certification by, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Demonstrated experience in Cardiac CT with at least a Level 2 Cardiac CT certification.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work efficiently in a high volume and fast paced practice.
  • Willingness and capacity to image and interpret all organ systems including neurologic, thoracic, vascular, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, musculoskeletal, gynecologic, early obstetric, and cross cover other subspecialty sections.
  • Accomplished track record in clinical teaching at the medical student, resident, and Fellowship level.
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC).
  • Proven academic track record with an established research portfolio.
  • Experience in all aspects of MRI and CT including body and neuroradiology.
  • Experience in Dual-Energy CT.
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of contemporary low-dose CT techniques.
  • Experience in working with and developing relationships in industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of educational and radiological information technology systems.
