About The Position

Peninsula Vet Emergency & Referral Hospital is seeking experienced ECC Veterinarians to join their multidisciplinary team on either a 3–6 month locum contract or casual basis. This role is ideal for those looking for a fixed-term locum contract or flexible casual shifts in a high-acuity referral setting. The hospital integrates ECC, surgery, anaesthesia, and an attached GP clinic, offering a diverse and rewarding caseload. The position involves managing complex cases such as GDVs, snake envenomations, tick paralysis, and trauma, with the support of ECC specialists and a full referral team.

Requirements

• 3+ years of emergency practice experience (preferred)
• Confidence managing emergency presentations and performing emergency procedures (or strong motivation to develop these skills with specialist support)
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
• A genuine passion for ECC and high-quality patient care

Responsibilities

• Managing complex cases such as GDVs, snake envenomations, tick paralysis, and trauma
• Delivering patient outcomes with the support of ECC specialists and a full referral team
• Providing 24/7 emergency and referral services across ECC, surgery, and anaesthesia
• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including specialists, registrars, and experienced ECC clinicians
• Exposure to advanced ECC cases including trauma, ventilated patients, critical anaesthesia, transfusions, chest drains, central lines, and more
• Teaching and mentoring is welcomed as the hospital is a University of Melbourne core rotation site
