About The Position

A Locomotive Mechanic B you must be qualified to work on diesel-electric locomotives, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in physically demanding conditions. You thrive in a safety-first, team-based environment and have the capacity to learn and apply technical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect rail cars and components for compliance with safety regulations (Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Association of American Railroads (AAR), and SRY standards);
  • Weld, fabricate, and repair rail car components (e.g., doors, floors, underframes, steel parts);
  • Replace defective or worn parts, including couplers, gaskets, and air hoses;
  • Operate tools and equipment such as cranes, forklifts, rerailing devices, and hand tools;
  • Sandblast, paint, stencil, and perform other finishing tasks on rail cars;
  • Secure and inspect railcar loads, including high/wide loads for clearance;
  • Access and input data into computer systems for repairs and reporting;
  • Work in outdoor environments in all weather conditions and at times at elevated heights; and
  • Assist in wreck service, rerailing operations, and tool maintenance as needed.
