About The Position

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU. The Locksmith is responsible for the maintenance/installation of all locks, management/maintenance of the key system, door hardware, exit devices, alarms, entry systems, and all associated components. This role involves ensuring the security of campus buildings and requires a high degree of honesty, trustworthiness, and dependability. The position also necessitates being on call 24 hours a day and performing work that may occasionally be outside the specific trade to support departmental objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Four years of related experience as a locksmith.
  • Licensed as a certified locksmith.
  • Knowledge of key cutters and key systems.
  • Able to operate portable drills and miscellaneous hand tools.
  • Able to interpret hardware schedules, blueprints, plans, sketches, work orders and etc...
  • Be able to perform manual labor.
  • Good health and stamina to lift, carry and pull loads in excess of fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladder and work in adverse conditions.
  • Honesty; responsible.
  • Good moral character.
  • Trustworthy, dependable, punctual.
  • Likes to work.
  • Must be neat and clean in appearance at all times.
  • Professing Christian and willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.

Nice To Haves

  • Continuing education as required by the University.
  • Locksmith training course.
  • Computer training as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Works as directed by the immediate supervisor and/or Director of Physical Resources.
  • Develop a preventive maintenance program for all doors and hardware.
  • Install, repair and maintain all locks, hardware, doors, exit devices and alarms, entry system and all associated components.
  • Re-key locks for security purposes, cut and issue keys to authorized personnel.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of all keys and locks.
  • Order materials and supplies as needed for the completion of work assigned.
  • Fill out work orders and written reports daily.
  • Be on call 24 hours a day.
  • Put together estimates for minor projects.
  • Maintain all building-betting list of the University.
  • Develop key schedule through computer software programs.
  • Control security of building key inventory.
  • Cut keys and re-key locks as needed.
  • Install and maintain door closers.
