About The Position

The Locker Attendant is employed by the Office of the Chief Judge and reports to the Division Administrator of the Criminal Division. The applicant must possess a high degree of integrity, discretion, maintain professionalism, and be able to assist court patrons, litigants and the public, as needed and perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to speak, read and write English at a level required to effectuate job duties
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Work experience in a court building setting preferred
  • Ability to respond and follow through with proper procedures required by the Court
  • Knowledge of how cases proceed through the system, and forms, documents and procedures associated with same
  • Proficient computer skills preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Pleasant and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work cooperatively and integrate with legal and non-legal personnel

Responsibilities

  • Administers the electronic device storage operation
  • Directs members of the public with prohibited electronic devices to the storage lockers
  • Assist litigants with accessing storage lockers
  • Track and record owner information to be kept on file and manage numbered ticketing system for retrieval of property
  • Collect any remaining devices at end of day and store for pick up by either a sheriff for someone who has been taken into custody, or keep for one (1) month and send to Cook County Facilities Management lost and found
  • Clean storage lockers periodically
  • Prepare the desk for opening to the public
  • Safeguard security keys
  • Provide customer service to litigants and court users
  • Serve as an informational guide for court users
  • Be stationed outside of the booth to assist with quick phone returns and redirect individuals to the correct location
  • Assist in directing crowds to the appropriate lines in the foyer
  • Recreate ticket stubs exchanged for phones when necessary
  • Assist with ADA requests as directed by the Court Disability Coordinator, including providing physical assistance to court users as needed
  • Organize completed paperwork for record-keeping purposes
  • Retrieve and return phones efficiently
  • Support fellow staff members during peak hours
  • Provide coverage on weekends, holidays, and late nights (including required late-day shifts)
  • Assist the Presiding Judge and Court Administrator with miscellaneous tasks and special projects
  • Secure locker area at close of business
  • Perform such other duties as may be directed by the Presiding Judge or the Division Administrator
