About The Position

The Locator Technician is responsible for identifying and marking underground utilities like gas, water, electric, and telecommunications cables. By using detection equipment and interpreting blueprints, they prevent excavation damage, ensure public safety, and protect essential infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Nevada Driver's License.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding locating services.
  • Team Player skills - Possess strong commitment to team environment dynamics with the ability to contribute expertise and follow leadership directives at appropriate times.
  • Interpersonal skills – able to collaborate on projects, maintain effective relationships, communicate clearly at all levels of the business, use tact and diplomacy in stressful situations to ensure services get installed and customer demands are met
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Adaptability - capable of working in a fast-paced environment, adapt to various situations and prioritize multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Perseverance – must persevere and install services in difficult conditions and often under tight timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize electronic locating equipment to detect underground utilities.
  • Mark the location of utility lines using paint, flags, or other markers.
  • Conduct site assessments to evaluate potential excavation hazards.
  • Collaborate with construction teams and requestors to provide real-time utility information.
  • Maintain accurate records of utility locations and site conditions.
  • Respond to utility location requests in a timely manner.
  • Report any damaged utilities or hazards to appropriate authorities.
  • Provides unparalleled customer service excellence by listening to, answering questions and resolving concerns.
  • Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.
  • Operate equipment and vehicle in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for Admin Tasks, Including: Prepare time and expense reports (daily), Clear jobs in NewNet Outside Plant Program (daily) and other duties as required.
