About The Position

University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full-time Location Supervisor for the OPR Hospital Operators team. This position is a hybrid position located in Oakland. Hours for this position are Monday-Friday 10:00pm to 6:00am. OPR Hospital Operators are the largest group, and reach, of operators in Western PA. They answer inbound calls into the UPMC tollfree line, Children's, Magee, Mercy, Presbyterian, Shadyside, and Passavant’s McCandless and Cranberry, which, on average, is a 2.1 million call volume annually, to send pages and to connect to patients and offices. They also facilitate codes for the aforementioned along with the medical codes for Western Psychiatric, which average about one thousand a month. Additionally, they facilitate inpatient medical consults for Presbyterian, Shadyside, Mercy, and Western Psychiatric, resulting in an average of about five thousand per facility each month. Purpose: Manage coordination and supervision of the scheduling, registration, coding, charge and cash posting processes as performed by practice plan staff. Obtain for more than one practice plan, depending on number of Patient Information Coordinators at each location. Direct interaction with physicians, personnel from other practice plans and hospitals, and staff supporting the billing, collections and customer service functions. May need to commute to multiple practice plan sites to perform various job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, healthcare administration, finance or related field and 1 year of healthcare billing, registration or patient business services OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of healthcare billing, registration or patient business services
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of ICD-9-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS coding, medical terminology, third party payer billing requirements and reimbursement practices and OIG regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to effectively problem solve and make independent decisions
  • Prior working experience on personal computers and various office equipment

Responsibilities

  • Engage in department growth activities including onboard, orientation, recruitment, and retention.
  • Work with Physician Liaison and Leadership team in outreach.
  • Act as a bridge between staff and leadership team.
  • Assist management in the development and guidance to staff in their daily activities.
  • Perform random audits of staff work to monitor performance and quality. Provide timely performance evaluations for staff.
  • Establish performance measurements for all processes including internal communication workflows, and timely staff performance evaluations.
  • Investigate and resolve all issues presented by staff and escalate as necessary.
  • Monitor and adhere to data quality standards of information obtained and entered into the system for claims processing.
  • Assist data analyst in relevant aggregation.
