About The Position

This position reports to the Manufacturing Unit Manager and is responsible for acting as an interface between the Procurement and Engineering teams. The role drives procurement knowledge (market, suppliers, external intelligence) into the development process to optimize engineering cost, quality, and technology. It also translates engineering requests into procurement parameters for execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Materials Science, or related)
• 3-6 years of relevant experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Product Development, R&D support, Supplier Quality, or Project Management
• PC knowledge. Proficiency in: MS Office, Oracle, etc.
• Experience working with managers, making presentations and reports.
• Comply with the rules, practices and regulations established by Quality, including ISO 9001; HSE, including ISO 14001, 50001, VPP; and Human Resources, the Employee Manual, the Assistance Policy, the Code of Conduct, among other.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all procurement activities for Research and Development (R&D) projects.
• Acts as interface between the technology project team, local division Procurement teams, and division Procurement Category Managers, ensuring that project information is adequately shared between the project team and the various Procurement teams.
• Responsible for procurement Gate Model activities, arranging project procurement gate meetings as required, and creating and maintaining the project related to procurement documents.
• Responsible for estimating initial cost and quality, and achieving product cost and quality targets.
• Works to optimize cost and quality at all stages of the development projects, including investment and test cost.
• Works with local Procurement team and division Category Managers to find new potential materials or new potential suppliers for critical materials.
• Selects, with the support of local Procurement team and division Category Managers, the prototype suppliers and final production material suppliers, in line with product cost requirements, future product footprint requirements, and procurement strategies, while ensuring sustainable quality and cost.
• Manages the ordering and on-time delivery of the prototype parts directly with the suppliers for each project, in alignment with the critical project development and testing plan.
• Supports the development of new lower cost suppliers to meet the level required for sustainable quality and on-time delivery.
