About The Position

A Driver – CDL (B) safely operates a collection truck and provides prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services to customers. The driver ensures the vehicle meets Company safety standards before operation, follows Company, state, and federal regulations, and completes daily vehicle condition reports so defects can be repaired promptly. The role also requires maintaining vehicle readiness, completing route and productivity documentation, meeting departmental productivity standards, and following required safety procedures. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement.
Good customer service skills and a professional, courteous, and cooperative approach toward customers and co-workers.
Good time-management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
Ability to follow through, adhere to the work schedule, and address challenges as they arise.
Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules, promote safety standards, and avoid inappropriate risks.

Responsibilities

Inspect the vehicle before and after operation in accordance with Company policy, checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls; report safety issues using standard reports.
Safely operate the heavy truck on the designated route and to the disposal site, using the route sheet and map and servicing customers as identified or as assigned by dispatch or a supervisor.
Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility, following Company safety policies and procedures.
Interact courteously and professionally with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure routes are serviced promptly.
Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them in accordance with applicable departmental procedures.
Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable material.
Clean areas affected by accidental waste spills while following applicable safety standards and policies.
Monitor vehicle condition to maintain operational readiness and minimize downtime; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip where appropriate.
Complete required route and productivity sheets, vehicle condition reports, and other reports.
Meet required departmental productivity standards so customers are serviced efficiently and on time.
Follow required safety policies and procedures and actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
