About The Position

In an outlying assigned electric area away from the district office, promotes the interests, upholds the prestige, interprets and applies policies, improves the public relations of the company, maintains the company's property in operating condition and services customers' equipment. This position will be required to live within 20 minutes of the center of the town of Eastman at the intersection of S. Main/Sheridon/Shanghai Ridge Rd.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1 year experience as a journeyman line technician
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period
  • This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements under 49 CFR Part 40 and FMCSA regulations (Part 382).
  • Knowledge of service work, ability to plan and execute work with very little supervision
  • Thorough knowledge of company Safety Rules and Operating Practices and requirements of the State Electrical Code as it relates to line construction and maintenance.
  • A demonstrated responsibility to the company and public

Responsibilities

  • Detects and corrects distribution system defects or faults, and reports defects or faults on the transmission system.
  • Collects accounts and handles customer complaints and explains company rules, rates and policies.
  • Connects and disconnects customer service.
  • Installs and maintains service lines and streetlight systems.
  • Installs, removes and reads meters.
  • Replaces line, transformer and customer fuses.
  • Sets recording instruments for tests and surveys.
  • Climbs poles and assists line crews as required.
  • Operates and maintains a small hydro plant and/or a substation.
  • Performs trouble shooting on company and customer equipment.
  • Maintains records and prepare reports according to established procedures.
  • Contacts shareowners.
  • Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.
