About The Position

GCC is seeking a Local Ready Mix Driver to deliver concrete mix to job sites. The driver will be responsible for safely operating a ready-mix truck, ensuring the concrete meets desired slump and specifications upon arrival. This role involves pre-trip inspections, loading the mixer with concrete and admixtures, and maneuvering the truck in potentially unstable ground conditions on job sites. The driver will also be responsible for placing chutes for concrete discharge according to customer needs and calling in daily start times.

Requirements

• CDL Class A or B Required
• High school diploma (minimum); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to pass Federal Department of Transportation drug screen and physical.
• Maintain driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations and meet company policy requirements.
• Ability to handle cash and make change.
• Ability to deal with customers and other employees in a diplomatic manner, in a variety of stressful situations.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
• Maintain Department of Transportation Health condition.

Responsibilities

• Drives truck equipped with a concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to job sites.
• Safely drives ready-mix truck to jobsite and arrives with the desired slump within customer or job specifications.
• Performs pre-trip inspection of ready-mix truck pursuant to D.O.T. regulations.
• Pulls or backs truck under the plant to charge mixer with concrete, ensuring all admixtures or other ancillary products on the ticket are included.
• Safely maneuvers truck in often very unstable ground conditions upon arriving on jobsite.
• Places chutes from fender or hanging rack onto the main chute at the rear of truck for discharge, pursuant to customer needs.
• Calls in daily for start time.
